Duncan Jones announces baby on the way, one month after dad David Bowie passes

The late and great David Bowie would have been a granddad. The news was announced by film director Duncan Jones on Twitter, dubbing the event the "circle of life."

It is a month today since rocker David Bowie passed away following a private 18-month battle with cancer and his only son Duncan, 44, with former wife Angie Bowie, posted a cartoon image on Twitter, along with the message: "1 month since dad died today. Made this card for him at Christmas. Due in June. Circle of life. Love you, granddad."

It is a bitter-sweet moment for Jones and his wife as they celebrate the news.

Duncan married his long-time girlfriend, photographer Rodene Ronquillo on November 7, 2012, which was the same day she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

It took eleven months of treatment, including chemotherapy and a double mastectomy before Rodene, 35, was given the all clear by doctors and now the happy couple will be celebrating their first child in June this year.

His lovely wife made a joke on Twitter about her recent increase in weight:

At the time of his father's passing, Jones posted on Twitter that he would be off the air for a while, but he is definitely back. On January 23 he posted a tweet to thank everyone for their kind words and wishes.

His humor is definitely showing again with his latest tweet.
Circle of life it is indeed and while the world still mourns the loss of Jones' famous dad, it is good to hear of good news in the family, while sad that David Bowie won't get to enjoy being a granddad.
