Killing three, including himself, the dialysis patient walks up to a fellow patient in the ward at the American Hospital in Tirana on Monday, where four people are receiving dialysis treatment.

There is a struggle before he douses the male patient with gasoline before setting him alight. An explosion then engulfs the ward with flames.

Two female patients, Sanije Sulaj, and Hani Mal, both aged 55, died from asphyxiation in the fire, according to Albanian news site Albeu.

The target of the attack, Dashamir Saraci, was seriously injured, while the arsonist himself, Lefter Canaj, died on Tuesday following the attack. Police believe Canaj had argued with Saraci earlier while waiting to use the dialysis machine.
