Princess Diana’s Audi up for sale along with Queen Elizabeth’s Bentley

In November this year, car lovers will have the chance of owning these classic cars, along with Elton John’s Rolls-Royce Phantom.

According to Nick Whale, the M.D. of Silverstone Auctions, there will be a huge amount of interest in the cars on sale on November 12 and 13 in Birmingham. Whale said the cars have been cared for “wonderfully” over the years and said they are looking forward to finding new homes for the classic vehicles on the Silverstone Auctions' Classic Motor Show Sale.

The late Princess Diana’s 1994 Audi Cabriolet is expected to particularly draw interest from around the globe. The Princess of Diana reportedly drove around 4,000 miles in the green convertible sports car, which is valued at around £50,000 (around $62,000). Princess Di was occasionally photographed driving with Princes William and Harry in the car.

However, to add to the excitement and keeping in the Royal theme, there is also the chance of purchasing Queen Elizabeth II’s 2012 Bentley Mulsanne, which was a gift for Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee tour of the U.K. The car is on sale for £235,000 ($292,000) and comes complete with reinforced tires, armor protection and walnut-burr veneered picnic tables for that enjoyable meal in the fresh air. Not to be outdone, reportedly it is also possible to buy the Queen’s 2001 Daimler Supercharged V8 for around £60,000 ($75,000). Princess Margaret’s 1980 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith II is also on offer for around £110,000 ($137,000).

For something a little different from royalty, there are several other famous cars on sale, including Elton John’s Rolls-Royce Phantom from 2005, currently valued at around £155,000 ($193,000). If anyone is interested, they can also buy the 1972 Fiat 500L bought by former British Prime Minister David Cameron for his wife Samantha. That car is going for around £22,000 ($27,400).

The fact these vehicles are for sale does not mean the royal family, Cameron or the famous singer are short of cash, however, as the full, 12-car collection is currently owned by a private gentleman.

'Not to be published' photo of Princess Diana to go on auction

A photograph of Diana Spencer, relaxing with an unnamed young man just two days after the announcement of her engagement to Prince Charles, is up for sale at an auction in the US.

The previously unseen photograph is a black and white print from the early 1980's. It displays 19-year-old Diana, smiling at the camera, as she relaxes in the lap of an unidentified young man who is reading a book. A bottle of Johnny Walker whisky stands nearby on the window sill.

Apparently a London tabloid deemed it too hot to print at the time, as it is dated February 26, 1981 on the back, just two days after Buckingham Palace had announced the engagement of Prince Charles and Diana Spencer.

According to Bobby Livingstone of RR Auctions of Amherst, New Hampshire, the photograph is from the private Caren Archive, which acquired it seven years ago when it bought out the photo library of Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper.

He said that the photograph would normally sell for around $1,000, "but because it has that [not-to-be-published] marking on it, we expect it to go for much more." "It captures the moment when the engagement had been announced two days before and the press was going mad over Diana but the Daily Mirror just wasn't going to publish this picture of her in a comfortable position with a man other than Prince Charles," he added.

According to Eric Caren, who owns Caren Archive, he does not know who the man in the photograph is, but many have apparently suggested that the man is Diana's brother, Charles Spencer.

However, Caren, referring to the Daily Mirror's editors said that, “If it is her brother, it is more curious why they squashed it.” “It’s not an unflattering shot. It’s a more intimate shot.”

Internet bidding on the photograph will run on the auction website from January 17 to 24.

36-year-old Diana died in a car crash in Paris in August 1997, a year after her divorce from Prince Charles.
